【摘要】:Thewidespreaduseofglassed-steelequipmentinhighlycorrosivechemicalprocesseshasmadeitnecessarytodetectweakspotsinthecoatingandrepairthembeforecatastrophicfailureoccursinservice.Thistestisintendedtodetectdiscontinuitiesandthinareasinaglasscoatingonmetaltoensurethatthecoatingisdefectfreeandhassufficientthicknesstowithstandtheprescribedserviceconditions.Atestvoltagemaybeselectedatanydesiredvalueupto20000V,thusmakingthetestapplicabletoawiderangeofthicknessrequirements.When,becauseofbubblesordefects,thethicknessofglassatanyspotislessthanenoughtowithstandtheappliedvoltage,apunctureresultswithanaccompanyingindicationofadefect.Remedialactionisthenrequiredtorepairthedefectbeforetheequipmentcanbeusedforcorrosiveservice.(Whensuchdefectsarefoundbeforetheequipmentleavesthemanufacturer''splantanotherapplicationofglasscanusuallybeappliedandfiredtobecomeanintegralpartofthecoating.)1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthereliabilityofglasscoatingonmetalandisintendedforusebymanufacturersofequipmentthatisdesignedtowithstandhighlycorrosiveconditionswhereafailureofthecoatinginservicewouldcauseextremedamagetotheexposedmetal.Itsuseoutsidethemanufacturer''splantisdiscouragedbecauseimproperorindiscriminatetestingcancausepuncturesthataredifficulttorepairwithoutreturningtheequipmenttothemanufacturer''splant.Thistestmethoddetectsnotonlyexistingdiscontinuitiesintheglasscoating,butalsoareaswheretheglassmaybethinenoughtobelikelytoresultinprematurefailureinservice.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificprecautionarystatements,seeSection7.
