【摘要】:Althoughinfraredimagingsystemshavethepotentialtodeterminemanyfactorsconcerningthethermalperformanceofawall,roof,floor,orceiling,theemphasisinthispracticeisondeterminingwhetherinsulationismissingorwhetheraninsulationinstallationismalfunctioning.Anomalousthermalimagesfromotherapparentcausesmayalsoberecordedassupplementalinformation,eventhoughtheirinterpretationmayrequireproceduresandtechniquesnotpresentedinthispractice.1.1Thispracticeisaguidetotheproperuseofinfraredimagingsystemsforconductingqualitativethermalinspectionsofbuildingwalls,ceilings,roofs,andfloors,framedinwoodormetal,thatmaycontaininsulationinthespacesbetweenframingmembers.Thisprocedureallowsthedetectionofcavitieswhereinsulationmaybeinadequateormissingandallowsidentificationofareaswithapparentlyadequateinsulation.1.2Thispracticeoffersreliablemeansfordetectingsuspectedmissinginsulation.Italsooffersthepossibilityofdetectingpartial-thicknessinsulation,improperlyinstalledinsulation,orinsulationdamagedinservice.Proofofmissinginsulationoramalfunctioningenveloperequiresindependentvalidation.Validationtechniques,suchasvisualinspectionorin-situR-valuemeasurement,arebeyondthescopeofthispractice.1.3Thispracticeislimitedtoframeconstructioneventhoughthermographycanbeusedonallbuildingtypes.1.4Instrumentationandcalibrationrequiredunderavarietyofenvironmentalconditionsaredescribed.Instrumentationrequirementsandmeasurementproceduresareconsideredforinspectionsfrombothinsideandoutsidethestructure.Eachvantagepointoffersvisualaccesstoareashiddenfromtheotherside.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Theinch-poundunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Inparticular,cautionshouldbetakeninthehandlingofanycryogenicliquidsorpressurizedgasesrequiredforuseinthispractice.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninNote1andNote3.
